The Lorax shows up at the Holman Elementary Pajama Party
On Thursday, H.O.P.E., the Parent Teacher group of Lucy N. Holman Elementary School held their annual pajama party for students and parents. The teachers performed a stage version of Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax, the story, first published in 1971, where the greedy old once-ler uses up all the town’s resources for the production of his Thneeds, which eventually drives away all of the wildlife and residents of the town because there are no more Truffula Trees. In the end, there is only one Truffula seed left and it’s up to ‘you’ to rebuild the once beautiful Truffula forest so the animals and people can move back in.
The lesson the kids learned goes well with the changes happening in their town of Jackson, as developers scoop up our precious forest resources and build shopping centers, gas stations and housing developments. In attendance for the evening were School Board of Directors Barbara Fiero and board president, Marvin Krakower.
Once again, H.O.P.E. hosted a fun family friendly night on the heels of the annual Bowling night last week where PBA Hall of Famer, and Holman parent, Parker Bohn performed some bowling magic tricks for the students at Holman. Next month, on March 15th, H.O.P.E. will be hosting a roller skating night at the Jackson Roller Rink on County Line Road.
