As you drive around Jackson today and yesterday, there’s something different. There’s red signs posted about that say “Taxpayers for Education”. Who are these taxpayers for education and what is their agenda?
The ticket is being led by John Morvay, the lone School Board member who voted for parents and against administrative pay increases for district executive, now being hailed as the “Chief Education Officer” for the district by other campaigns. But who are these people and why should we vote for them?
John Morvay
John Morvay moved to Jackson in 1989. John has been married for 35 years to Donnalynn Morvay. John and Donnalynn have two children. Daniel graduated from Jackson Memorial High School in 2004 and Michael graduated from Jackson Memorial High School in 2006.
John Morvay attended Saint Peter’s College, earning his B.S. in 1977 and his Master’s Degree in Education in 1984. John earned another Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the College of New Jersey in 2000.
John Morvay has been in education for over 38 years. John Morvay has been with the Edison Township school district for 22 years.
John is presently a member of the Jackson Township Board of Education. He was the only member of the Board of Education to vote NO to the recently renewed contracts of the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent and Business Administrator, each of which raised administrative salaries and perks.
As an otherwise active member of his community, John Morvay has served as the President of Holbrook Little League and as a member of the Jackson Pop Warner Board. John was also a firefighter with the Jackson Mills Volunteer Fire Company.
Tracey M. Murnane
Tracey M. Murnane is a wife, mother and taxpayer here in Jackson. Tracey and her husband, Brian, moved to Jackson Township in 1993. Tracey and Brian have two children, Connor and Darby. Connor is in the 8th grade at Goetz Middle School. Darby is in the 5th Grade at Johnson Elementary School.
Tracey is a Publisher Business Account Manager with Barnes & Noble, Inc. and has been with the company for 17 years. Tracey is a member of the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), serving on the Metadata Committee. Tracey was also an Emergency Medical Technician in Millburn, NJ during the late 80s and early 90’s. In Jackson, Tracey and Brian participate in Holbrook Little League with their children.
Matthew Genovese
Raised in Jackson Township, Matthew S. Genovese is truly local color and a civil servant to our community. Matt has four children attending public schools here, Patrick in the 6th grade at Goetz Middle School, Meaghan in the 4th grade, Lindsay in the 2nd grade, and Michael in Kindergarten, all at Johnson Elementary School.
Matt graduated from Manhattan College in 1993 with a B.S. in Business Administration and double major of Marketing and Finance. Having worked in the financial industry, Matt returned to his hometown and is now a Realtor here in Jackson.
Matt’s Service to the community of Jackson Township includes: Safety Officer & Past Chief of Cassville Volunteer Fire Company, Deputy Coordinator–Fire, Jackson Township Office of Emergency Management, Jackson Township Citizens Budget Advisory Committee, Knights of Columbus Council #6201 (Bartley Road) 3rd Degree Knight, Member Jackson Township Chamber of Commerce, Delegate and Past Vice President Jackson Township Fireman’s Relief Association.
