Lacey Township, NJ -- The Jackson Little League All Stars won their second game in a row tonight, improving their district tournament record to 2 wins and 1 loss as they came back late in the game to beat the Lacey Township All-Star squad.    The game was the team’s third game in a four game tournament pool that will end on Friday in Brich Township.    The tournament is the first step in the long road for these 12 year olds who hope to eventually play in the Little League World Series in Willamsport, PA at the end of August.

Jackson entered the game  coming off a 4-2 victory at home against The Beast of the East, Toms River Little League on Monday in Jackson.  They picked up where they left off on monday and continued hitting the ball hard and playing smart defense.    Early in the game,  both teams had to adjust to a lower than normal strike zone, but after the first time through the order, the players adjusted well to the low strikes.

It was a classic Little League game with each team taking turns holding the lead during the first four innings. Lacey pushed across a run in the top of the fifth to take a 4-3 lead. Jackson’s bats then erupted for a six run inning with consecutive hits from Brandon Janofsky, Kyle Missry, Danny Serreino and Steve Lazicki giving them a 6-4 lead. Joe Demaio delivered a two run double and Shane Brand drove the ball off the right centerfield fence scoring DeMaio and extending Jackson’s lead to a comfortable 9-4. Charles Dimino pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief of starter Brandon Janofsky to earn the win for Jackson.

The team’s 4th Game is Friday July 3rd against Brick in Brick @ 5:30 PM at Birchwood Park.
