Jackson, NJ - Jackson NJ Online, a Central New Jersey online news provider, reported record growth in June as the site’s unique blend of community interest stories, reviews and select national headlines coverage has drawn attention both online and in the community. The website began in May of 2008 as a regional news syndication portal with very limited interest. In February of 2009, Jackson NJ Online implemented a new approach designed by Stilton Company, LLC, a local web solutions provider, which propelled the website to new heights.
Stilton Company overhauled the entire website and created an online marketing campaign for Jackson NJ Online which involved Stilton’s comprehensive Search Engine Optimization services, online social marketing and a strong community outreach program that has proven to be a successful combination as the website’s audience grew by nearly 300% in June to a daily unique reader base that averages 2,500 visitors each day.
Jackson NJ Online which is a service provided by GoKidsNJ, New Jersey’s largest family entertainment, travel and tourism portal, accomplished this goal by engaging many different organizations in the community including the Jackson Pathfinders, Jersey Shore Girl Scouts, Jackson Pop Warner, Jackson Little League, Jackson Soccer Club and other youth oriented services in order to provide these groups with coverage they were not getting in the local mainstream news media websites.
“I decided in May that to truly accomplish the goal of building a community information portal that is successful and true to the roots of our community, that we have to actually engage the community head on.” explains Stilton Company owner, Phil Stilton “So we reached out to anyone and everyone that has anything to do with our town and invited them to become part of Jackson NJ Online and the response was overwhelming! Along the way, we partnered with other national level open media news organizations to provide news and articles outside of Jackson such as product reviews, health and family news, national news and editorials to deliver a complete news media package for the town. To date we have published articles from over 100 writers worldwide over the past three months.” Stilton, a former Gulf War era Marine admits that his favorite news provider is the Armed Forces Press Services saying “It’s amazing the quality of news and media our men and women serving overseas pump out on a daily basis, many times right from the combat zones.”
In July, Jackson NJ Online has committed to following the 12 year old Jackson Little League All Stars in their journey down the road to the Little League World Series as the only local news service to follow the team of local champions. In the Fall, Jackson NJ Online will provide coverage for Jackson’s Pop Warner clubs, Jackson Soccer Club and both High Schools’ sporting events. Jackson NJ Online is also working on creating a journalism scholarship for local students interested in pursuing a career in journalism and will be accepting intern field reporter positions in August. “Our internship program will give young kids in our town the ability to write about news at all levels and their articles will show up worldwide alongside outlets like The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today and thousands of other international news services.” Says Phil Stilton “In May, we achieved syndication status in Google News and several other online news syndication programs. We’ve seen our articles show up in online journals as far away as the UK, Russia, Australia and Czechoslovakia thanks to the aggressive online marketing services employed by our online marketing firm.”
The internship program will help students with their ability to identify newsworthy events, how to capture the reader’s attention, publication of their article, interviewing skills and the marketing process that will spread their article around the world in minutes.
As the summer heats up, Jackson NJ Online will work in Tandem with it’s parent website, GoKidsNJ to deliver up to the minute family friendly event bulletins, reviews and to continue GoKidsNJ’s 2009 “Best Places for Kids in New Jersey” tour in which they will visit over 100 New Jersey family destinations during July and August for an upcoming book entitled “100 Best Places for Kids in New Jersey”.
