Barack Obama made an appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman.  After affixing the Presidential Seal upside down on Obama’s coffee mug, the president came out and  David Letterman asked the President about how dad being president has affected the children with things like sleep overs and playdates and the President jokingly replied about their friends parents having to be frisked and of his daughter’s later dates with boys being subjected to men with weapons surrounding them.

Here’s the video from President Obama’s appearance on the Late Show with David Letterman.  Talk of foreign policy, economic recovery, and health insurance reform is punctuated by a special gift of produce.

Was the upside down seal a gaffe?  An inside joke?  Did it have hidden meaning as to the state of the Presidency?  What do you think?
