Jackson, NJ – The Asbury Park Press ran a Jackson Day article last night and part of the article was about a great kid who we lost last year, Angel David Soto. The article was a very fair assessment of the day last year and mentioned steps being taken this year by Jackson Township to provide an extra level of medical staff for such a large event.
It’s a great move by the Mayor and gives parents an extra level of comfort that more advanced medical options will be available this year that EMT’s are not authorized to perform, but that is for the next article, for now, as we are on the eve of the 1st Jackson Day since David’s passing, please keep David and the Soto Family in your minds and lets not forget what a great impact David has had on so many kids in this town.
I am also disappointed that the township council has gone against the wishes of Jackson Police Department Chief Kunz in implementing a child curfew for the event as Jackson Day is a family event and should be treated as such in the future and I hope that our elected officials are not proven wrong by voting down the curfew.
I hope everyone has a fun and safe Jackson Day.
