TRENTON – New Jersey Republican State Committee Chairman Jay Webber today issued the following statement in response to Govenor Jon Corzine’s poor excuses for his relationship with disgraced former Bergen County Democratic Party Chairman Joseph Ferriero:

“Governor Corzine can’t distance himself from the convicted former Bergen County Democratic boss Joe Ferriero. The Governor’s excuses in yesterday’s debate for enabling Ferriero’s corruption don’t hold water.  Jon Corzine gave over $440,000 to Ferriero’s Bergen County Democratic Organization, and then stood by silently even after Ferriero was indicted, failing to call for his resignation. The Ferriero mess is just another example of Governor Corzine’s failed leadership for our State.”
