TOMS RIVER – With the approach of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, Ocean County Freeholder Deputy Director Gerry P. Little is encouraging residents to remember the service and sacrifice of all veterans on that day.

“This is a day set aside every year for us to recognize the efforts and dedication of the men and women who have and continue to serve in the military,” said Little, who serves as liaison to the Ocean County Veterans Service Bureau. “Here in Ocean County, we have more than 65,000 veterans that call this county home. We are so proud of their service to this great Country.”

Little noted that Ocean County will hold a special ceremony beginning at 1 p.m., Nov. 10 at the Ocean County government complex on Hooper Avenue, Toms River, to unveil a monument in memory of the six Ocean County residents who have died while serving in the military during the War on Terror.

“We will remember these six men, all with strong ties to Ocean County, that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” Little said. “This ceremony is just a small way for us to recognize their actions and to celebrate their lives. They will always be heroes in our eyes.”

Army Cpl. Luigi Marciante Jr., Army Cpl. Kareem R. Khan, Marine Cpl. Thomas E. Saba, Marine Pfc. Vincent M. Frassetto, Army Spc. Christopher M. Duffy, and Marine Sgt. Alan Sherman, will all be remembered during the ceremony, which will be held in the courtyard between 119 and 129 Hooper Avenue, here.

“I encourage the public to attend the Nov. 10 ceremony,” Little said. “And, I also encourage our residents to attend the Veterans Day ceremonies held throughout the county on Wednesday just as a way to say thank you to these very brave men and women who have and continue to protect our freedoms.”
