Ron Paul criticizes Obama on accepting peace prize after war escalation

As the U.S prepares to send more troops to the war in Afghanistan, Barack Obama’s in Norway to receive his Nobel Peace Prize, awarded in October. The Nobel Committee said it wanted to praise Obama’s efforts to strengthen diplomacy and co-operation between nations. But for many, the 44th U.S. president was a surprise choice. Republican Congressman Ron Paul says Obama’s recent war plans show he shouldn’t have been awarded the peace prize.
I watched Christiane Amanpour participate in a discussion about this on CNN this morning, and it made me sick to my stomach. She was playing spin doctor/apologist for the decision by President Obama to send more troops to Afghanistan, reasoning that wars are not won by withdrawing troops from the conflict.
Well, I know DAMN well that Ms. Amanpour would NOT have taken that stance had it been Presidnet BUSH (or any other non-Democrat president) sending additional troops to war.
And how can we call it “war” anyway, since there was no formal declaration as required by the Constitution? And why don’t we just return the name of the Department of Defense to “Department of War” as it had been at one time. Seems more appropriate.
