Jackson, NJ -  In 2007, Stilton Company, LLC a independent software developer in New Jersey teamed up with Tropical Ports, an online cruise and travel information site to develop the world’s most unique cruise ship tracking application, the Tropical Ports Cruise Ship Tracker.  For the past year, the website has been in a public developmental beta stage, but it will soon launch it’s live website in January, 2009.  Stilton has since acquired the website and the ship tracking software and is planning on going live very soon.

Utilizing a proprietary software package developed by Stilton Company in cooperation with its worldwide development partners around the world, including Elixir Solutions of New Dehli, India and Tekno Solutions of Coimbatore, India, Stilton Company has developed a product that is truly an international joint effort.  A joint effort that has the company’s New Jersey Web Development and NJ Search Engine Optimization firm coordinating with project team members on the other side of the globe on a daily basis.

“We chose Elixir in 2008 to work on the Google Mapping interface on the project because they had designed some pretty great Google Map apps that I felt were killer apps in that area and Tekno has been flawless for us over the years when it comes to manipulating and managing the huge amounts of data needed for this website” says Phil Stilton, “In 2010, there are over 150,000 records per year in the database that have to be verified, sorted, imported and kept up to date as cruise lines change schedules due to weather and other circumstances.  Each record indicates 1 day on one ship and we do that for all of the major cruise lines”.

The company will be launching the application in early 2010 and new improvements and enhancements are already being developed such as message boards, comments, real time news and video, one click booking options and major enhancements to the web site’s user interface.    The Tropical Ports Cruise Ship Tracking app is a one of a kind website which caters to approximately 1,000 cruisers world wide each day.  The website allows users to track cruise ships in a Google Maps interface, see itineraries, show all ships in a port, keep tabs on where your favorite cruise line’s ships are and a newly added feature that allows users to tag their favorite destinations to share with other travellers.
