Jackson, NJ – Despite snowfall in the amount of approximately one-half to one inch per hour today, the Jackson Township Department of Public Works crews are working non-stop to clear roads across the township’s 100 square miles.    Crews began digging out early in the morning and will be working non-stop until streets are cleared.

Mayor Mike Reina said today that he  ”Hopes that everyone stays home where it is safe and warm. Extremely hazardous conditions out there. If possible please stay indoors, wait for the storm to end and the roads to be cleared. Jackson residents can go to www.jacksontwpnj.net for hourly updates. In case of an emergency call 911″.     Reina was referring to the newly activated snow alert ticker on the website which gives residents hourly updates on the current situation.

Yesterday, the township issued a snow alert which informed residents that all vehicles, obstacles and sports equipment must be removed from the roadways in order for our equipment to plow properly.  During poor driving conditions, it is imperative that the traffic on the roadways stay at a minimum. For your safety and others, staying at home is best during inclement weather such as this.

So far, residents are thanking the efforts of the Mayor, the township and the Department of Public Works, citing a significant improvement in managing the situation from last month’s surprise blizzard which effectively shut the town down for three days.

Clara Glory, owner of Glory’s market said “Jackson Residents have a Mayor they can be proud of.” , just one of over a dozen people who reached out to the Mayor on his Facebook page to give thanks for the increased vigilance during this blizzard.
