Jackson, NJ - By early Sunday morning most roads in Jackson had been cleared to the surface and residents began venturing back out into the world. With a combined effort between the mayor’s office and the Department of Public works, road crews worked through the night to ensure that all major arteries were clear and most residential roads were being attended to ahead of one of the busiest travel days of the year, Super Bowl Sunday.
Clear roads meant local kids could hitch a ride with mom or dad and hit the slopes around town before the big game kickoff. About 50 or so kids gathered upon the slopes on Nature Way behind 60 Acre Reserve to make the most of their three day weekend. A large crowd also gathered at the Aldrich School in Howell on the more advanced slope at that location. Some of the kids at 60 Acre Reserve said they were excited about the extra day of sledding. “This is great! The snow came at the perfect time when we have an extra day off!” one child said.
By afternoon, slow plows were performing finishing touches on the cleanup operation, clearing shoulders and running final passes on roads that were not completely cleared previously.
