Four Jackson wrestlers win Tri County championship

By

Four Jackson middle school  wrestlers took home the championship title at this year’s Tri-County Wrestling Championships.  In the Tri-County tournament, the top wrestlers from thousands of middle school aged wrestlers from Ocean, Monmouth and Middlesex Counties compete.  There is only one champion for each weight division.   This year, Sebastian Rivera (77 lbs), Freddy Teranova (87 lbs),  Michael Russo III (97 lbs) and Matthew Russo (102 lbs) , all of Jackson came home with the hardware.

The best youth wrestlers from 237 towns in Monmouth, 257 towns in Ocean County and 168 towns in Middlesex County came out to see who  was the best.  To get there, these kids had to win matches at the division tournaments and  then wrestled for the title of Ocean County champions.  The  champions from the three counties  compete to see which  one is the Tri-County Champion in the Tri County Championship.
